This is one of my all-time favourite vodkas, perfect for martinis or sipping neat straight from the freezer. Crafted from top-calibre blue Weber agave straight from Mexico, Onyx is distilled and blended with the purest water from Newfoundland in Canada, making it incredibly soft with a smooth texture - perhaps as smooth as your dad’s witty sense of humour (so he thinks, at least). You can expect to taste a spicy sweetness with an earthy grip of agave. The finish then comes to light with freshly cut grass, pepper, and an unmistakable citrus hug around the tongue. Not only does it taste great, but the used bottle can later become a piece of art on your dad’s shelf. Truly exceptional.

SNL legend Dan Aykroyd joined forces with artist John Alexander to design Crystal Head Vodka’s cool skull bottle. The vodka is made in Canada using high-quality ingredients. The newest expression is made from agave grown at a single farm in Mexico. It’s a unique, easy-to-drink vodka that’s great in a simple vodka soda or more elaborate drinks like cosmopolitans.
Crystal Head is distilled in Newfoundland using glacial waters from subterranean aquifers and enhanced by quadruple-distillation. Two versions are currently available: the original made with sweet Ontario corn, and a drier, more peppery English-wheat version, Crystal Head Aurora. It’s multicolored metallic-looking skull bottle, when held up to the light, reflects the colors of the Aurora Borealis. The crisp, clean taste of both versions comes from filtration through 500-million-year-old Herkimer Diamond quartz crystals. In 2021 a third Crystal Head vodka appeared—Crystal Head Onyx—a unique vodka distilled from Blue Weber Agave sourced from a single Mexican farm and possessing notes of soft, earthy green grass and white pepper.
Dan Aykroyd's Crystal Head wins all of the points for unique design, and the vodka is pretty darn good, too. This corn-based drink gets its crystal-clear namesake from an intense filtration process. Crystal Head vodka undergoes 7 filtrations. The kicker is that at least 3 of them are through Herkimer diamonds. While diamond filtration might seem like a savvy marketing ploy to add a little extra glitz to the product, it's hard to argue with the results. Crystal Head is some of the smoothest stuff on the planet.
Weather on both coasts and places in between has been dreadful for the last 4-6 weeks. Whether there were significant snow and/or rain, everyone has seen something crazy.
Those are the days when you want something hot to drink. And you might want to ratchet up the flavor profile to make it a “hot toddy”.

Founded by comedian Dan Aykroyd in 2008, Crystal Head is a Canadian-produced vodka known for its eye-catching bottle. The corn-based vodka, filtered through actual crystals, is bottled in glass, skull-shaped bottles. But don’t let that fool you into thinking Crystal Head is all gimmicks. The vodka inside the bottle is just as memorable as the “head” itself. Gift it to your boss, and you’ll be sure to make an impression.
Located inside the HydroSpa, the ice bar is literally a converted deep freezer that has been made to look like a frozen nightclub from another world. There’s packed snow on the ground and the walls are encased in bricks of ice. The bar is one giant hunk of ice. The shot glasses are even made of ice.
You get to taste from three Crystal Head Vodka expressions: Original, which is made from Canadian corn, Aurora from English wheat, and Onyx crafted from premium Blue Weber agave. The Onyx, which came out of a black glass skull, was my favourite. It tasted like tequila, only a bit smoother. Before we left, we got to experience a special Northern Lights show inside the bar. It was like a laser show, but with the glass crystal heads of the vodka bottles being illuminated.
Hot chocolate is an absolute must this time of year, and Crystal Head Onyx Vodka is the perfect addition to your hot chocolate recipe. As an added bonus, check out the delicious Gingerbread Express martini I threw in for you as well — which is also made with Crystal Head Onyx! Granted, this drink will take a little longer to make, but I promise it’s worth it.

This next festive tipple comes from Clockwork Rose bar in Bristol. Bartender Kit Commodore came up with the concoction, for a chic and seasonal twist on the classic vodka Martini.
Know someone fond of a crisp martini or a cocktail?
There are few better gift options that Crystal Head Vodka. Firstly, it’s an excellent tipple, with a super silky mouth feel and a clean nose - no burn as she sips.
Secondly, the bottle is stunning - made in Italy in an eye-catching skull shape - it’ll look gorgeous in their drink’s cabinet.
Ice Bar & Ice Caves
Be among the first to visit the newest luxury attraction in Muskoka, the Crystal Head Vodka Icebar at J.W. Marriott The Rosseau Resort & Spa in Minett. Co-founded by celebrated Canadian Dan Aykroyd, guests at the -15°C ice bar will enjoy flights of all three Crystal Head Vodka expressions — Original, Aurora, and Onyx — followed by a special Northern Lights show.
With a full-service indoor spa and nightly entertainment, as well as complimentary snowshoes and cross-country skis, the hotel already offered it all. But to their credit, they keep adding new and interesting experiences. A year ago, The Rousseau opened up the Muskoka Ice Caves, an indoor dining experience in igloo-like domes that overlook the lake. Now, they’ve teamed up with Dan Aykroyd’s Crystal Head Vodka for private tasting tours for groups of six inside a minus-15 degree cooler.
Crystal Head Vodka celebrates Christmas with Martinis
Crystal Head Vodka has collaborated with some of the world's best bars and restaurants to. launch the 12 Martinis of Crystal Head. UK venues inlcude Zuma, Chiltern Firehouse, One Aldwych and the Goring Hotel. I love warm cocktail season. There's really nothing like taking one of your favorite cold-weather beverages and then spiking it. This recipe comes courtesy of Crystal Head Onyx, and it's a boozy hot chocolate with a kick.
Crystal Head Vodka is an edgy drink, encased in a skull-shaped bottle, but don't let that scare you away. Crafted from Canadian corn, distilled four times, and blended with water from Newfoundland, the vodka is filtered seven times, three through layers of semi-precious crystals known as Herkimer diamonds, which also are melted into the glass of the bottle, according to its official liquor bio. Whew, that's a lot that goes into this spirit. This all amounts to making it great vodka for a Moscow mule.
Give Crystal Head Vodka for the holidays. It’s distilled quadruple times and filtered seven times, with the final three filtrations through Herkimer diamond crystals makes this vodka easy drinking. It’s slightly sweet, silky smooth, and offers a hint of vanilla. Plus the eye-catching bottle is designed by world-renowned American portrait artist and landscape painter John Alexander.
Dan Akroyd’s premium vodka brand have teamed up with the uber cool cult Parisian street artist Intox for the collab which includes only 36 bottles in the exclusive series.
Inspired by the moniker ‘With Love from Paris’, the design features incredible neon graffiti artwork, depicting luxe items and iconic landmarks from both London and the French capital.
Another bottle that will sit on your shelf as a piece of art once you’ve explored the wonder within. At this time of year try wrapping the bottle in tinsel, bang a Santa hat on top and sit a red light directly underneath: I won’t lie, it makes for a pretty spectacular Christmas decoration.
But enough of my decor on tips, back to the vodka... Crystal Head is produced in Canada from local Canadian corn. Distilled four times and filtered seven — three of which are through Herkimer diamonds — no surprise expectations should be high, and they won’t be let down. I think the addition of Newfoundland water really does make a difference on the taste. Silky, with a kiss of citrus, vanilla and creamy white pepper.

Fall is here, there’s a crispness to the air, and the world is seen through pumpkin-colored glasses. Blame it on Starbucks’ Pumpkin Spice Latte, but the combination of spices once only reserved for making pies and the occasional bisque--namely cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, ginger, and allspice—is now one of the most sought-after flavors for everything and that includes cocktails.
Bartenders are now capitalizing on the trend, using it in a variety of drinks. These cocktails are filled with warm aromas that give instant comfort and warm feelings to those that imbibe them.
Mostly “pumpkin spice” is devoid of actual pumpkin, but in one of these drinks, pumpkin puree is an integral ingredient.
As with most quality vodka, Crystal Head Vodka is neutral in smell, but the finish is nothing but. The distillation process includes a seven-time filtration process through Herkimer diamonds that leaves the vodka smooth and creamy with a touch of sweetness and vanilla.

And for those who want to combine cocktails and Halloween at home, head to Selfridges and pick up a bottle (or two) of Crystal Head Vodka, and concoct your very own PG-18 serves, such as their decadent ‘Pumpkin Patch’, a mix of vodka, honey, coffee liqueur, cream, pumpkin pie spice, and ginger snap cookies.
Its one of a kind bottle makes Crystal Head a talking point no matter whether you’re enjoying it at the bar or mixed it into a cocktail at home. This vodka comes from Canada and is distilled from a variety of corn called “peaches and cream” before being filtered through layers of quartz crystals known as Herkimer diamonds.
Make the most of this subtle sweetness by using Crystal Head for the perfect Cosmopolitan. Mix it with triple sec, cranberry juice and freshly squeezed lime juice before shaking with ice into a cocktail glass and serving with a lime wedge. Crystal Head deserves its position as an eye-catching vodka on the top shelf.
Dan Aykroyd and artist John Alexander co-founded this eye-catching vodka — well, eye-catching bottle, anyway — over a decade ago. Surprise: The liquid’s as interesting as the skull head that encases it. It contains no additives and is distilled four times into a neutral grain spirit before being filtered seven times. Three of the filtering steps involve layers of semi-precious crystals known as Herkimer diamonds.
Drink: Crystal Head Onyx is an agave-based vodka, and it does impart tequila-like characteristics (grassy, white pepper, citrus).
Multi-award-winning Crystal Head Vodka was created by actor Dan Aykroyd and artist John Alexander, who designed the spooky skull bottle as a symbol of life, reflecting power and enlightenment. Perfect for your Halloween table, the additive-free spirit is filtered through layers of Herkeimer Diamonds and comes in three expressions of vodka: Original, made from locally sourced Canadian corn, Aurora, crafted from English Wheat and Onyx, which is crafted from Blue Weber agave sourced from a singla farm in Mexico.
Even if you've seen the unmistakable skull head when pursuing the vodka aisle at your local liquor store, you might not know the big names behind Crystal Head: actor Dan Aykroyd and artist John Alexander. The duo designed the iconic bottle as a symbol of life when they created the company and thus, Crystal Head Vodka was born.
Using only the highest-quality ingredients and pristine water from Newfoundland, Canada, their vodka is 100% additive-free, but here's the real kicker - as a final touch, it's filtered through Herkeimer Diamonds.

Best for a clear head, and we're not just talking about the bottle. Crystal Head (created by Dan Aykroyd, no less) doesn't contain additives, added sugar or citrus oils, which are common in other vodkas. It's clean and dry and you'll also find hints of aniseed and vanilla. Beware, however, it still kicks like a mule.

You've probably come across Crystal Head Vodka before - after all, it's hard to miss. With its distinctive bottle and celebrity ownership, this one vodka brand doesn't just fly under the radar. Created by actor Dan Aykroyd in 2008, Crystal Head has only garnered more success as people begin to understand that the intricately-made glass skull bottle is only the beginning: what the bottke holds is just as pure, just as thoughtfully produced.
Dan Aykroyd and Crystal Head Vodka
Though Aykroyd might not seem like a celebrity who would have his own alcohol brand, the Ghostbusters star first debuted his award-winning spirit, Crystal Head Vodka, in 2008. To set itself apart from other vodkas on the market, Crystal Head is sold in a skull-shaped bottle designed by artist John Alexander.
Don't let the skull-shaped packaging deter you; Crystal Head is an original, delicious vodka brand that has paved its way as one of the best new brands on the market. Their original vodka uses Canadian corn distilled four times and then filtered through crystals known as Herkimer diamonds. They have another variety called Aurora, which used English wheat and has a dry, warming finish. Their final additions is called Onyx, made from a base of Mexican Blue Weber Agave.
Team Canada
While many people might think a Labatt beer or some Canadian whisky, why not choose the bottle that makes a statement. Crystal Head Vodka has become a highly regarded vodka. It might not make you sing O Canada, but it is a vodka that always has high praises.
Crystal Head Onyx is the third permanent addition to the brand's lineup. It's made using the unconventional vodka ingredient of Blue Weber agave sourced from a single farm in Mexico. Like the other marques in the portfolio, Onyx is filtered through layers of quartz crystals known as Herkimer Diamonds and the water used in its production is glacial water from Newfoundland where the vodka is distilled.
Any liquor shelf would be remiss if it didnt have a bottle of Crystal Head Vodka sitting on it. That distinctive skull shape bottle is more than just a big brands way of standing out on the market, given this Newfoundland Vodka is 4-times distilled from peaches and cream corn. After being filtered through Herkimer diamonds, Crystal Head Vodka is given a tough grainy palate with pepper and spice, starting off strong but finishing quite soft and warm.
Pour yourself a shot of liquid courage from Crystal Head Vodka's limited-edition rainbow Pride bottle that supports the Dan Aykroyd founded brand's year-long diversity partners, including Stonewall Sports Program. the Test Positive Awareness Network, Kaleidoscope Trust and Lurie Children's Hospital Transgender Youth Program, to name a few.
Because gay cannot live by bread alone, Crystal Head Vodka has launched a limited-edition Pride bottle for 2021. Yes, it's a skull - but it's a rainbow skull, and a portion of proceeds benefit LGBTQ causes. They've also devised a full menu of cocktail recipes for your party, like "What's the T," and "Sugar Daddy."
And just so you know they're not a one-night stand, Crystal Head sponsors year-round partnerships with groups like the Stonewall Sports Program, The Test Positive Awareness Network, Kaleidoscope Trust, and Lurie Children's Hospital Transgender Youth Program.
"Onyx is connecting the growth of super-premium tequila to vodka," says Daniella Vizzari, the assistant marketing manager for Crystal Head, which in fall 2020 rolled out a vodka distilled from agave from Mexico's Nayarit. Onyx is a permanent part of the portfolio, she says.
Like the flagship Crystal Head Vodka, which is made from corn, the agave version is blended with water from Canada and filtered through Herkimer diamonds. Though it has the faintest tinge of honey, it otherwise tastes nothing like agave. "We're briding the gap between vodka and tequila by introducing consumers to something entirely new to create with," says Vizzari.
With its limited-edition Pride bottle, Crystal Head Vodka continues its relationship with LGBTQ+ communities by devoting proceeds of its sales to year-long partnerships with Stonewall Sports program, The Test Positive Awareness Network, Kaleidoscope Trust, Lurie Children's Hospital Transgender Youth Program and more. The Pride bottle, which houses the brand's original flavour vodka, comes in two sizes and will be available through July.

Dan Ackroyd's vodka brand is a proud ally and donor to the LGBTQIA+ community, so celebrate with a rainbow flag of cocktails like the deliciously fruity Sugar Daddy.
When it comes to mixing cocktails, following recipes will only get you so far. The spirits themselves are the key ingredient in the drinks you'll be creating, and play a vital role in determining the flavour as much as the quality of the blend. It's therefore worth spending a little extra on decent spirits brands. Here are some of our favourites...
In case the whole bottle-shaped-like-a-skull thing wasn't already theatrical enough for you, we present Crystal Head Pride edition. Painted in dramatic rainbow tones, this will double as a statement decor piece long after you've drained the final drop of vodka (which, by the way, is made using pure Canadian water). It doesn't just look good though - a percentage of sales goes to the Kaleidoscope Trust, an international LGBTQIA+ human rights charity that works across the Commonwealth, for example by ensuring that trans women in Pakistan have access to safe housing.
The newest skull-shaped offering from the company owned by actor Dan Ackroyd, released in October 2020, is distilled from agave. The bottle is onyx-hued, hence the name; its glossy goth appearance will be just right for a certain bar aesthetic The liquid inside had nuanced sweetness and a peppery finish.
Celebrating Pride with some cocktails? We have the drink for you. Crystal Head has launched a limted edition Made With Pride rainbow bottle of its original blend, which will be available in Selfridges. Profits will be going to the Kaleidoscope Trust, the UK based charity focuses on fighting for human rights of LGBTQI+ people across the Commonwealth.
Vodka is a paradoxical spirit. It leads spirit sales in America in terms of volume, and has done so for the last 40 years. Yet it holds none of the cultural cachet of whiskey or tequila. Browse liquor store shelves and you’ll discover more flavored iterations than all other spirits categories combined. But when it comes to judging quality, we instead base our opinions of a bottle on its lack of flavor.
Not to be all "corporations have sullied Pride by monetizing a movement," but... corporations have sullied Pride by monetizing a movement. And that's a gross thing to do, considering that it means profiting off a group of people whose civil rights are still being toyed with and stripped away, depending on who's in office. This June, with rainbows and pastels popping up every which way to Sunday, it's good to know where your money is going and who is using it for a cause that actually helps the queer community.
June is Pride Month, and Crystal Head Vodka is doing their part to support the LGBTQI+ community with the help of a limited edition bottle.
According to a press release from Crystal Head Vodka, 2021 is the last time collectors can get their hands on one of these rainbow skulls and if that isn’t incentive enough to snag one of these bottles, perhaps the fact that they have partnered with groups such as Stonewall Sports Program, The Test Positive Awareness Network, and Kaleidoscope Trust will help convince you.

Dan Aykroyd can make you laugh at any moment.
His comedic sense of timing, of course, has been honed from his years on Saturday Night Live and his roles in a long list of smash-hit movies, including Ghostbusters and the Blues Brothers. But when it comes to Crystal Head Vodka, he’s as educational as he is entertaining. This is no vanity project or fluffy celebrity endorsement.

Luxury served in a glass can provide so much more than a feeling. Luxury is a product that offers a unique overall experience, including taste, packaging, and programming.
